The Albany Fit Walkers are a chapter of the American Volkssport Association with members interested in Fitness, Fellowship, Fun and Food. Our members are walking, bicyling, swimming or snow skiing in the Albany, Oregon area and all these activities are considered Volkssports.

Volkssports evolved in Germany from running races and has spread to more than 40 countries. 'Volks' means folks, just regular people! Volkssports are able to be enjoyed by everyone! You don't have to be a club member to participate in Volkssports events, but joining a local club is a way to meet and make new friends with a shared interest in taking walks, riding bikes, swimming or snow skiing.

Volkssports are family-oriented, amateur athletic events. They are casual, though well-organized adventures in health, recreation, fellowship and fun. Volkssports events vary depending on the location of the chapter activity. Most events are walks, family friendly activities, accessible to families with strollers, pets or wheelchairs.

Event participation is at your pace! Walks and other events are planned by local clubs and there are many clubs throughout Oregon and the rest of the United States. Year Round walks are pre-planned routes with published directions.
